For the Girl I Love So Much…

I’ve been meaning to make this for a good friend of mine, Salokya (possibly the only schoolmate I’m really close to!). A little purple piggy keychain! I wanted to make it a common pink piggy but since her favourite colour is purple, I thought I’d make it more ‘unique’. ;D This is the first time I’m using the new batch of felt my mom got for me, and it’s much better to work with! I hope this batch lasts well. >_<

What’s the best way to have something fully customized for you? By having your name there, of course! ;)
I have not been practicing in a long time, I’m a little rusty already. ;_; But I still hope she likes this, I really enjoyed making this. :D
Ohh, I have not been updating so I didn’t get a chance to post pictures of Memster. I was experimenting with this guy (in all aspects, including different type of socks and different fiberfill) so the stitches are really bad. >_<; But I do love the little guy muchly, however deformed he is. :D

Say hello to Memster! ♥

I had extra socks from the class yesterday, so to make sure I don’t forget how to make it, I decided to make another one today! I couldn’t think of an animal that was brown (which is the sock color I had) and that I really liked. Until it hit me!

The making. Can you guess what animal he is?

Back in February, I was attempting to make a cat plushie for the Beloved for Valentine’s Day. The Beloved is allergic to cats, but loves them deeply, so I thought I’d create a little cat companion that won’t trigger any allergic reactions! ;)
Here is some photos of the little guy, officially male, and named ‘Doki Doki’ (I made a little birth certificate with him that the Beloved can fill out the details).
Peek-a-Boo! I see you ♥

I took 3 whole days to finish everything (Doki himself, the fish, the heart and the blanket he’s lying on). It was a challenge, because I had to draw and design most of it on my own. I had to keep searching for references, to see how to sew on his hands, legs and whatnot. However, I must say I really enjoyed making this. Downright exhausting, yes, but so fun.
I was having a hard time keeping Doki a secret (I had him finished before Valentine’s Day itself), but I managed to pull through. Haha! The Beloved loves him, which makes me really happy too. ♥
Thus, the 2011 HLLVD (Hubby Love-Love Valentine’s Day) project has been completed!
I can’t wait to start on more plushie making soon.

Handmade Sock Doll
Posted: March 20, 2011 Filed under: Dollies, Photography, Sewing | Tags: plushie, sewing 2 Comments »Today I attended Millie‘s Handmade Sock Doll class organized by The Handmade Movement.
It was an amazing experience! I am so, so happy that I decided to take the class.
Millie was really sweet, and lovely to learn from. The sock dolls that she brought along as samples/references were terribly cute! The class had about 10 or 11 of us, and everyone was really fun to be with. :D So nice to meet new people. ♥ The class went smoothly, if I do say so myself; I’ve learned so much from this supposedly short length of time (our class was about 3 hours long).
We were given a choice of socks color, and what type of animal we would like to make (dog, cat, bear, panda, mouse, etc.) I naturally chose to make a doggie. ♥ Although I was slow and took some time in understand things (I had to keep asking her to repeat things ;_; ), Millie was patient and comfortable to learn from. On another note, I’m happy to finally be able to talk to Beii properly, and to thank her for purchasing one of my artworks during CF2010. ;w; It was overall, a really great experience, and it has definitely strengthened my interest in handmade items. ♥
I kept kicking myself over the fact that I did not bring my camera. :’( Ohh, me! I really wish I did, then I could at least take some photos of my doggie making process and photos of everyone. Hopefully, there’ll be some photos up soon. :D
I came home and finished my doggie after dinner. I screwed up his hands (they’re not centered), but I think for my first try, I’m pretty proud of the overall result. ♥ Definitely need more practice, but here’s my finished doggie, named Kipper, because the Beloved said he looks like Kipper the Dog, the animated TV series.

Meet Kipper! ♥
